Celtic 2 Hibs 2 – 1st September 2012

Three days after securing their place in the Champions League group stage with a 2-0 win over Helsingborgs, it was back to league duty for Neil Lennon’s side – a top of the table clash with Hibs.

Mikael Lustig gave Celtic the early lead, volleying home from a corner at the near post – his 1st goal for the club. The lead lasted until early in the 2nd half, when Tim Clancy took advantage of hesitation between Lustig and Forster. Celtic took the lead with 20 minutes to go, with Lustig again involved – James McPake eventually putting the ball into his own net. But the lead lasted just 4 minutes before Hibs were level again – Paul Cairney with a nice solo goal. The result kept Celtic top on goal difference.
